Coffee Enemas
Written by owner, Crystal Jarvis
Coffee enemas have been a ritual that has been part of my wellness journey for nearly two decades. What started as something I was curious to explore became a practice that I genuinely look forward to. For me, it is about so much more than the physical experience. It has become a quiet moment to slow down, reconnect with my body and give myself some intentional time for self-care.
I personally find that coffee enemas leave me feeling lighter, energized, clear-headed, refreshed and amazing. I often describe the feeling afterward as a sense of reset — like I’ve given my digestive system a little extra attention and created space to feel good again.

A Practice with History
Enemas have been used for centuries across different cultures and medical traditions as a way of supporting bowel evacuation.
Coffee enemas became particularly well known in the 20th century through the work of Dr. Max Gerson, who incorporated them into the Gerson Therapy in the 1930s. The traditional theory behind coffee enemas suggested that compounds in coffee could stimulate the liver and bile flow and support the body’s natural elimination processes.
Although some of the traditional claims surrounding coffee enemas have not been scientifically established, the practice continues to be used by people around the world as part of complementary wellness routines.
Why I choose this practice
My own wellness journey has taken me through some incredibly challenging chapters. I’ve experienced profound grief, major surgery and significant changes within my own body.
Through those experiences, I’ve learned how important it is to have rituals that bring you back to yourself.
Coffee enemas became one of those rituals for me.
I love the feeling of taking time to care for my body, supporting regular elimination and giving myself a quiet space to slow down. Over the years, I’ve found that this practice fits beautifully alongside the other things I do for my wellness — nourishing food, movement, breathwork, yoga, hydration, rest and time in nature.

How they make me feel
Everyone’s experience is different, but my personal experience has been incredibly positive.
I feel:
-
Lighter
-
Energized
-
Clear-headed
-
Refreshed
-
More connected to my body
-
Ready to get on with my day
That feeling of a fresh start is one of the reasons this ritual has remained part of my life for 19 years.

The liver & natural elimination
The liver is one of the body’s most important organs for metabolism and processing substances in the bloodstream. Traditional coffee-enema practices have suggested that coffee compounds may influence bile flow and certain liver-related pathways.
I believe in supporting the body’s natural systems through healthy lifestyle practices rather than looking for a quick fix or miracle cure.
It’s important to be clear that coffee enemas have not been clinically proven to detoxify the liver or treat liver disease. My belief in them comes from my own long-term personal experience and from their place within traditional complementary wellness practices — not from claiming that they are a medical treatment.
My Approach
I don’t believe wellness should be complicated.
Sometimes it is about creating simple rituals that make you feel connected, cared for and
present in your own body.
For me, coffee enemas have become exactly that.
A ritual.
A reset.
A moment for myself.
A practice I’ve trusted for nearly 19 years.
And now, I love being able to share the education and experience behind this traditional practice with others who are curious about incorporating it into their own wellness journey.
Your body is incredible
My philosophy is to support it, listen to it and give it the care it deserves.
This is my personal experience and philosophy. Your experience may be different. Coffee enemas are a complementary wellness practice and are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure disease.
